The 6th major update focuses on the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA), which has reached a milestone of over 79 crore IDs. The system has evolved from a simple digital ID to a fully integrated "Health Locker" and payment ecosystem in late 2025.

79 Crore+ ABHA IDs created nationwide. The focus is now on "active utilization"—making your card a functional tool for daily hospital visits.

1 "Scan and Share" 2.0: Ending OPD Queues

The rollout of "Scan and Share" has slashed average OPD registration time from 20 minutes to just 30 seconds.

The Process

Scan the unique ABDM QR code at the hospital counter using your ABHA or payment app. No more filling paper forms.

Instant Token

Your profile is shared instantly, generating a digital token on your phone. Just collect your slip when called.

2 Integration with Wearables & Light HMIS

Syncing Smartwatches

Users can now link smartwatches (Apple, Samsung, Noise) to their ABHA. Doctors can view 30-day trends for heart rate and sleep patterns during consultations, enabling better diagnosis.

Light HMIS for Small Clinics

Government's free "Light HMIS" software allows local chemists and small labs to upload reports digitally. Your medical history from the neighborhood clinic is now part of your secure digital locker.

3 Scan & Pay / Scan & Send (Coming 2026)

  • Scan and Pay: Pay for prescriptions or lab bills directly by scanning a QR code on the document via ABHA-linked UPI.
  • Scan and Send: Visiting a new doctor? Scan their "Doctor QR" to instantly transfer specific past reports to their screen securely.

Privacy First: The Consent Manager

You remain the sole owner of your data. The upgraded app allows you to:

  • See exactly who accessed your data.
  • Set expiry dates (e.g., "Allow access for 24 hours only").
  • Revoke all access with a single tap.
